Before we left for the Galapagos Islands in the spring with Adventure Life, Beth and I debated whether or not to get a GoPro camera for the trip. Galapagos was a dream destination for us and we didn’t want to miss out on capturing it to its fullest, especially our snorkel sessions.
The problem was that we’re really tight on money during that time, so we decided to forgo it and use an underwater Nikon point and shoot that we had access to. That was a mistake. The Nikon did an okay job, but the quality of our underwater footage left a lot to be desired.
As luck would have it, shortly after our Galapagos trip, Captain Morgan (Yep, the rum!), reached out to us about hosting a campaign with several other blogs to promote a series of short films for the brand. Our compensation was a GoPro Hero 3 Silver. Better yet, they gave us a second one to giveaway to our readers. Unfortunately, I got really sick in late spring, which bought me a few days in the hospital, and we never got around to hosting a giveaway for the GoPro, until now!ย After some great sessions with the GoPro in Molokai and Maldives, we’re excited to be able give a GoPro to one of you guys!
We wanted to make this a fun holiday giveaway, so we made it as simple as possible to enter. Each completed task that you do below will earn you entries into this giveaway for the GoPro Hero 3 Silver. The contest will end at 11:59 p.m. Dec. 16, 2013. You can earn an additional 2ย entries each day by tweeting about the giveaway through the Rafflecopter widget below!
Since we asked you guys to share your favorite holiday drink with us, we thought it would be a good time to share ours too. Personally, I’m big fan of top shelf spirits during the holidays. I’ve had my eye on a bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label for sometime, and I think I may spring for it soon. Beth, on the other hand, loves hot coco and a nicely mixed Gin and Tonic with a lot of limes, of course.

Holiday drink of choice is booze of course. Love the GoPro giveaway. I can think of a bunch of uses.
During the holidays I love mulled apple cider….with booze!
Mulled wine. I became obsessed in Berlin.
Hot coco for suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure!
Hot lemon and ginger. Sometimes with booze.
This would be the perfect gift for my boyfriend! I never know what to get him!
It’s gotta be a hot apple cider with brandy in it for me. Had it for the first time last winter in LA and can’t get enough of it.
Hot chocolate (with Bailey’s) and mulled wine.
Can I get a chocolate flavored eggnog with booze in it!?! Or is that overkill?
I’m partial to unsweetened hot cocoa with lots of sugar filled marshmallows on top!
Beer for sure ๐
Gluhwein always means Winter holidays for me ๐
I hope I win
How about some Glogg? ๐
Italian red wine!
This is my first winter Christmas after moving from New Zealand, and so I am loving the mulled wines and ciders that are prevalent right now – so tasty and so warming! I think they will always mean Christmas to me now ๐
There’s a Poinsettia drink I had at the Bellagio during the holidays that I will never forget…
2 parts of champagne
1 part of strawberry juice (or just mince it)
1 part of passion fruit juice
use 1 strawberry in the champagne glass to decorate ๐
Trying rum/ thyme cider this year! I think it’s going to be a hit!
Aaaaw, winder holiday drink? Since I left Germany, I realized how much I miss Glรผhwein. For those who don’t know what it is: it’s hot wine with cinnamon, sugar and spice cloves… It’s so damn delicious…
Various
All of the above!
My favorite holiday drink is Egg Nogg WITH Booze in it ๐
Loves me some Calvados or unpeated Scotch. Cocktail-wise, Hot Buttered Rum.
Mojito surely is my favourite!
I love the Holidays, just because I get to have my favorite drinks, whether it is Eggnog or Hot Cocoa! But I have to say I am loving all the Mulled wine I’ve been tasting for my family’s new pub!
Peppermint eggnog martini? I’m not sure if it exists, but it should.
Baileys on the rocks please! I just stumbled across your blog, your photos and stories are lovely!
Hot coco
Spiced Hot Apple Cider!
i LOVE drinking ponche over the winter. It is a Traditional Meixican Navidad drink that can be made in numerous familial variations. Unfortunately I do not have the ingredients in the US (where i live) to make the version that i know best, but here’s a recipe that is similar:
http://mexicanfood.about.com/od/bebidasdrinks/r/ponche.htm
Ponche is a bit like apple cider and they drink it from about the day of the dead until just after the first of the year ๐ holidays las much longer in Mexico! hha or do they ever stop? I’m not sure… ๐ <3
Hot coco!!
Hot Coco hands down – but I’m vegetarian so it’s really hard to find good marshmallows that I can eat! I always want to be an egg-nog type of girl, but I end up going back to my first love every time!
Hot chocolate
A sparkly champagne cocktail always feels festive!
Why choose? Any respectable egg nog has booze, all booze has booze and hot chocolate is lovely with a little peppermint schnapps.
Coco this morningโฆโฆ.gotta work today!
Mine’s a margarita — cuz nothing says Christmas like a margarita. ๐
Hot toddy
My drink of choice for the holidays is hot chocolate with a bit of chartreuse.
Okay if there’s anything I’d looooooove to win with this contest, it’s a GoPro!!!
I’m planning a still secret (moeha!) trip in 2014 where I could DEFINITELY use this on.
Like, really bad:D
Lol forgot to mention my holiday drink: kiddibull!!!
It’s like champagne, but without alcohol. I really don’t like the taste of alcohol so this apple or apple/cherry flavored bubbled driink is great for me to toast with the rest of the family:)
Eggnog, fo’sho!
It would have to be whatever is local to where we are travelling, be it red white soft or hard.
Rum and eggnog, made by dad of course. ๐
Mulled wine or eggnog.
Hot cocoa AND booze!
I kind of like the hot cocoa and booze idea too! Might have to give that a go this Christmas!
My favorite holiday drink is hot chocolate with Bailey’s Irish Cream (or Stroh Austrian Rum)
Hot Coco!

Hot CoCo!

Spiced tea!
Cool idea – I’ve always wanted to try out a GoPro! Happy Holidays!!
Nothing like a hot toddy with whiskey to keep you warm and cozy!
New Orleans’ own French Market Coffee and Chicory with Almond Milk – zooooom … ahhh!
(raised on the coffee, converted to the almond milk years ago)
Hot cocoa with mini marshmallows. It is not heaven!
I would definitely say hot cocoa ๐
Hot chocolate with marshmallows or whipped cream! I love sparkling cider, too!
Is that even a question?? Booze for sure. I love a good whiskey and coke no matter what time of year. Makers Mark is my absolute fave! Thanks for hosting such generous giveaways! I’m heading to Central America in a month so this Go Pro would be beyond fantastic.
OOOh, hot cocoa all around…. but nog on Christmas Eve.
Hot cocoa – all the way!!
My holiday drink of choice is hot coco…with booze!
Oh I don’t drink and it’s hot in Australia at Christmas! I usually love giant icee mango drinks! Extra points for pretty glasses and paper umbrellas!
It has to be Champagne of course! A good bottle of bubbles always goes down well, chilled to keep us cool, for an Aussie Christmas!
Love Apple Cider that’s simmered slowly on a cold snowy day.
If I had to choose between the 3 choices, I would say Hot Chocolate after being outside in the cold.
I love a good pinot noir because if pairs well with just about any holiday food! Cheers!
LOL booze! That’s the only way I can handle my family
Booze. More specifically, mulled booze. If it’s mulled, I’ma drinkin’ it!
Hot Chocolate!
Favourite holiday drink: eggnog and rum. And not the plan ol’ dark or light rum, I like it spiced for maximum pleasure!
You have to try coquito this holiday season! It’s SO. GOOD. It’s basically Puerto Rican eggnog — I’m not an eggnog fan, but I love coquito. It’s also pretty easy to make your own. Try it!
My favorite holiday drink is a mimosa.
I am gonna be a pretty boring person as my choice of drink is just plain ole water. but thanks for a chance to win!
Hot chocolate. Yum!
Hot coco stirred with a waterproof go Pro Hero 3 ๐
Call me boring, but my holiday drink of choice is hot cocoa. Nothing reminds me more of the holidays and warms me up better than a great cup of hot cocoa.
I love hot cocoa and apple cider during the holidays.
Cold Mountain Winter Ale from Highland Brewery
Egg nog with booze…makes for pretty great gopro footage from time to time!
Booze.
I love a cherry brandy over ice sipped slowly in front of a real wood fire with all my friends and family around me… the moment being recorded on the new GoPro I won just in time for Christmas…
mulled wine!
Hot Coco, even better paired with s’mores.
egg nog is nice, but I can only take so much… then it is on to the booze!
Eggnog and also booze. Why choose? lol. Glad you enjoyed Moloka’i. Wish I could have met up with you when you toured Kalaupapa (I live there).
I love a well made eggnog.
I love Egg Nog!!

Hot chocolate with amaretto in it, delicious.
My favourite holiday drink is egg nogg with booze! Mmmm boozy Christmas ๐
I can’t stand egg nog. I love the peppermint hot chocolate from Trader Joe’s.
For the holidays it is hot coco and red wine! My family lives in some of the best wine regions in the US so there is always good stuff to share ๐
I also don’t get egg nog, yuck!
Would love a GoPro for diving please! (:
It’s booze. A good Islay single malt scotch whisky.
Hot Cocoa! With marshmallows!~
Anything with peppermint, chocolate or with a shot of rumchata ๐
Homemade eggnog is great, but what I really love is homemade Tom and Jerry’s! It’s not Christmas without it.
Glรผhwein definitely, favorite part of visiting holiday markets especially with spiced donuts or some other treat.
Eggnog without booze. I like my holiday eggnog unadulterated.
Booze! Booze! Booze!
Hot Cocoa with a pile of whipped cream on top!
Hot Cocoa. Vanilla Hot Chocolate from Starbucks is the absolute best. If you haven’t already you MUST try it.
Beer, beer and more beer…
Since I’m from Australia, it has to be a apple and lime mojito for Christmas!
Definitely Egg Nogg!!!! :)))
Mulled cider without a doubt.
Champagne, because my grandmother always starts Christmas dinner with a champagne toast.
Hot choco! OMG this is the best giveaway!!!!
Got to be mulled wine to get in the Christmas spirit!
I really like egg nog! I’m so sad that in Australia it’s not a really a thing (and I think if I made it myself – I’d be grossed out by the eggs!)
Gluhwein or eggnog w/ rum is the best
Hot Cocoa with some delicious Bailey’s
I love Hot Cocoa!!! ๐
I think you got an odd email from me…sorry about that!
I am a Soy Eggnog kind of gal!
Love hot chocolate, but pinterest has a red wine sangria recipe that sounded festive… aaaahhhhhh Pinterest…
I’m a bit of a beer guy, and accordingly, I love a good russian imperial stout. If it’s aged in oak barrels, even better!
Since we live in Singapore one would think that our choice would not be a hot one. Egg Nog is pretty hard to find here and if you do it’s mind blowing expensive! I’m not a booze person so what choice does that leave me?… Well…I put the aircon on to 40 degrees F, sit under it, close my eyes and sip a piping hot cocoa! That does the trick! ๐
I also want to comment on the awesome camera give away! Loving it! you guys rock!
Mulled wine during the holidays is absolute best!
Hot Coco
I like egg nog
Hmm… Egg nog is a special treat… But Bailey’s in cocoa/coffee is also awesome.
Egg Nog and Spiced Hot Apple Cider
Egg Nogg
Mine favorite is Jameson and ginger!! festive and warm all at the same time.
Hot chocolate for sure. I don’t drink alcohol!
Definitely hot chocolate!
Hot chocolate is the best.
my favorite holiday drink is not on your list! it’s called COQUITO: pretty much the Puerto Rican version of the eggnog. Thick coconut cream, evaporated milk, cinnamon, a bit of vanilla extract, sugar, and LOTS of RUM. grandma makes it so strongly have to take it by baby shots haha ;D
-Maria Alexandra
Why is this framed as an either/or? Hot Coco w/ a bit of rum, please!
Hot apple cider is perfect for a chilly Chicago day!
i’ve not had any booze all year, so it might be booze ๐
beer!!
Hot coco with Bailey’s in it! Yum ๐
I just love a good glass of milk!
Hot cocoa with a bit of Bailey’s
Hot chocolate and egg nog! They taste sooo good together, it’s a match made in heaven.
Hot Cocoa!
As I live in the southern hemisphere the holiday season is usually pretty hot. So my drink of choice is something that is icy cold (and it’s usually alcoholic!)
Hot Apple Cider spiked with Booze
I love Egg Nog!!
Hot Chocolate then booze
Holiday drink of choice has to be booze – I’ve never liked egg nog to me its the weirdest drink ever!!

Definitely Hot Coco
I love hot cider and mulled wine this time of year.
Booze… Then hot coco to sober up ๐
You say hot cocoa, egg nog OR booze like it’s a choice! How about hot cocoa AND booze, egg nog AND booze, or some combination of all three (egg nog with cocoa and rum could be interesting). I’m just saying…
Hot chocolate with some added spirits!
EGGNOG!
Christmas beer!
Hot Coco
