Top 3 Adventure Destinations at Turquoise Holidays.

Editors note: We have been allowing guests post on our site when we feel that the contributor has something really interesting to share with our readers. Although we are budget travelers, we realize that a lot of our readers take tours and we found these luxury adventure tours to be pretty interesting! We hope you enjoy learning a little more about them, just as we did.

Increasingly, our clients are coming to us looking for something more than the standard two week laze next to the beach. They want to do something different with their holidays, and especially in our current poor economic climate, want to get more from their luxury holidays. While they’re splashing out for an amazing holiday, they are increasingly interested in broadening their experiences. With this in mind, here is a quick guide to our top three adventure destinations, ranging from ‘soft’ to ‘hard’ types of adventure.

1.      South Africa.

Safaris are probably the first recommendation you’ll get when you ask for an adventure holiday, and it’s fairly obvious why; although safaris are incredibly safe these days, they do still carry that aura of danger due to their history and the very current close proximity to huge and threatening animals. Seeing a lion up close is always a thrilling experience, so just imagine the feeling you’ll get from spotting it out in the wild. South Africa is also great for a holiday when you may only want to spend part of your time on safari because there is plenty else to do, whether it’s imbibing excellent local wine, enjoying the rich food culture, or living the high life in Cape Town or Johannesburg. Avid ramblers will find many beautiful walks and mountains to climb; Table Mountain has just been nominated as one of the new Seven Natural Wonders of the World and has a view you won’t want to miss.

2.     Australia.

While you can’t go on safari in Australia, per se, there are more things that can kill you roaming the country than anywhere else in the world – no joke. In itself, that makes it an exciting destination. But there is also plenty of adventurous fun to be had in the country, from surfing to scuba diving to discovering the fascinating history of the country itself. A road trip is another exciting option – why deal with flight security if you can hop in a car and discover the country bit by bit for yourself? It’s a fantastic idea for those who’d like to escape the package holiday feel and adventure for themselves.

3.     New Zealand.

For ‘hard’ adventure, it’s difficult to beat New Zealand. No matter what time of year you go, something exciting will be on offer – it’s a hotbed for established sports and up-and-coming innovations as well. Skiing and snowboarding are both exhilarating choices for the winter months, particularly with New Zealand’s gorgeous high mountains and breathtaking views. Even for novices, the snowy mountains represent the best kind of adventure, and New Zealand has some truly luxurious lodges to choose from. If you’re heading to New Zealand in the summer, bungee jumping, sky diving, white water rafting, and zorb globe riding (when you roll down a hill inside a large inflated ball) are all adventures that will give you the adrenalin rush you crave.

If you think you’d get bored just lying on the beach for your holiday, why not try an adventure for the next one? With so many choices, there is truly something new for everyone to do on their trip.
