Madrid is an exciting destination to visit whenever you want to have a holiday full of activities: shopping, wining & dining every evening, visiting art galleries and club hopping at night. The city is known to be full of action and Spanish people are famous for their ability to enjoy life to the max. If you drop by for a quick weekend or for a whole week, here are some hot spots you should definitely not miss out on:

The Avenue of Art

Start your holiday with soaking up some culture. The avenue of art is situated in a stunning green boulevard right in the middle of the center. Walking down the streets, not only you will enjoy the serene atmosphere but you will also be able to see some of the greatest art works from talented artists such as: Goya, El Greco, Velázquez and more. “Prado” and “Thyssen-Bornemisza”, are both museums that attracts many visitors, aside from these you should also visit the “Reina Sofía” National Museum where the legendary work of Picasso’s Guernica is shown proudly.

Plaza de Santa Ana

By the time your visit at the avenue of art has finished, for sure you will be a bit hungry. This is the best moment to take a cab or a metro and go to the Plaza de Santa Ana. This is by far one of the most vibrant and stylish districts in Madrid. Full with tapas restaurants, Irish bars, terrace cafes and a lot of beautiful people, if you are looking for a spot to have a nice lunch with a big glass of red wine, then this is the place for you.

Goya and Salamanca Area

After all the wine and tapas, it is time to for some action! What could be a better sport than shopping?? The Goya and Salamanca area is the best spot for shopping in Madrid. You will be surprised by the amount of brands that are offered in the streets: Donna Karen, Yves Saint Laurent, Channel, Lacoste, Gucci and more. Even if these names remind you that you are tight on your budget, window shopping is a fun activity as well! Aside from clothes and shoes, there are also many jewelry shops and small boutiques with unique treasures for decorating your house.

The Penthouse

The evening is approaching and it is time to get into the party mood!  Rooftop bars became a huge trend in Madrid few years ago and it is your chance to enjoy it! What can be better than to drink a good cocktail while sunset and city views surround you? “The Penthouse” is the trendiest place in town these days. The interior design is chic and elegant, the menu offers delicacies that you will not forget easily, (the prices are high so be prepared) and the music is chilled and groovy.  Once the alcohol starts to kick in, so does the music, now it’s time to go on the dance floor and dance the night away! Located at Plaza Santa Ana 14, Madrid 28012.

El Rastro Sunday Market

Your weekend is almost over but you want to take some souvenirs home. Be sure to visit the “El Rastro” market and you will find a lot of nice treats for you and your friends. This fun and colorful flea market is open every Sunday and you will see hundred of stalls with everything from art work to jewelry, vintage clothing, food, furniture and more.
