The Grand Canal – Venice, Italy – Somewhere In Time Weekly Travel Photo

Somewhere In Time is a weekly travel photo from around the world. Enjoy!

Looking out over the Grand Canal from the Rialto Bridge in Venice, Italy.

Venice is love ten times over.

I don’t think it’s possible to visit Venezia and not lose yourself in the tiny alleyways and stirring atmosphere. Whether it’s tucking into a cafe for the world’s best cappuccino (seriously the best I have ever had), strolling along St. Mark’s square at night or just watching the water lulling the buildings to sleep one thing is for sure – Once you visit Venice you will never be the same. This picture was taken from the Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto) overlooking the bustling Grand Canal.

Also, I will be adding more editing info as well. I have to come up with a good solution for it – will it be weekly, monthly or random? I’m not sure yet. But stay tuned or ask questions below in the comments and I will get back to you with the answers that way until I come up with a better way to go about it. Thanks!

Ah, Venice! One of my favorite cities in all of Europe. What a beautiful city!

I know – it is impossible not to love Venice – after you get over the being lost and confused feeling! @Connie,

oh yeah, i think it would be perfect. Although my sister went there on her honeymoon and they got lost in the maze of streets (it’s crazy!) and then it rained and they had all their luggage with them, carting it over little bridges and steps for 3 hours until they found their hotel. AFter that, it was awesome. hahaha 🙂@Sarah Wu,

I can see myself easily being hypnotized by the canals of Venice. I vote to have a weekly photo editing feature.

I had that same fantasty about it. I drooled over the idea of the afternoon light there for years. It lived up to it too. I would love to go back and stay in an apt. for 6 months or so. So many nooks and crannies.
As for the editing – yup! I think I’m gonna do it – might start off bi-weekly or monthly first and then go weekly. 🙂@Nick Laborde,

Very awesome photo. We didn’t make it to Venice when in Italy this past summer, but so want to go soon.

Oh, yeah – you have to go. Dave will go nuts with his camera there. I have so many photos that I can’t wait to edit and get up from there. It’s beautiful! @Dave and Deb,

Love the photo! Stunning black and white. I would love to read your photo editing tips because that is something I am still very much learning.

      Hi Akila,

Thank you so much for commenting! I am going to start the editing tips up again – I think I will make it a bi-montly blog post (seperate from the Somewhere In Time series). I haven’t started yet because they are actually quite time-consuming to write and I want to make sure I have a couple ready to go. I’m hoping to start it in February though. I’m glad you like the tips – I hope they help you and let me know if you ever have any specific questions. @Akila,

YOU ARE TOTALLY RIGHT ABOUT THE CAPPUCCINO!!!!! I’ve tried it in London,New York,DC,Moscow,Frankfurt even Paris.Compared to the cappuccino in Venice, there’s taste like regular coffee and milk from a machine… nice pic btw 🙂

Thanks for commenting and it’s true right? A lot of the food in Venice was not great but the Cappuccino was amazing! I never found a similar cup anywhere in Europe. @Venice hotel,

@Bethany, That’s probably the only place you can drink a proper cappuccino, that sucks really, because it means people have to travel to Venice if they want to drink a good cappuccino ahahha and an expensive one it will be 🙂
