This picturesque church lies on the banks of Tjornin lake in Reykjavik, Iceland. It is also known as the Free Lutheran Church. I believe it was built in 1902. Constantly visited by ducks & swans this is a bustling area of Reykjavik with children running and playing and people headed to work at city hall, which is also on the lake. After we discovered that the mayor, Jon Gnarr – who is also a comedian, dressed in drag for Pride, made his entire staff watch The Wire after he was elected and wondered publicly if he even existed (you can read a copy of the article here) we knew we wanted to interview him. Mainly because he is obviously awesome and we thought we might be able to bring a little bit of tourism to Iceland by featuring him on Beers and Beans.
We walked down to the lake specifically to find the mayor and ask for an interview. We did manage to find his office but the best we could do was leave a message with his secretary. We were told he would email us back and go over our questions. Being the busy mayor of a fantastic & beautiful city, we are still waiting, hopeful we can chat with him for a few minutes. ๐
So for now we can share this beautiful view of the lake with you.

I think this has turned into one of my favorites.
I ran into a man at the corner store last week that was from Iceland. He was trying to sell me on visiting. He also seemed surprised when I told him one of my friends was there!
Wow, that’s strange! I wonder if he’s happy to be out of the their for the winter though! I really want to go back (when I have pocketfuls of money) because there was so much that I didn’t get to do. I really want to see the Puffins.It was a beautiful country. I bet you would love it! @Erica,
