The Lovely Village of Manarola in Cinque Terra, Italy in HDR – Somewhere in Time

Somewhere in Time is a weekly photo from around the world. Enjoy!

To view the photo in it’s full glory, please click on the two arrows at bottom right hand corner of the gallery to see it as a full screen photo. Then click on the photo to enlarge it – It’s worth it, I promise. πŸ™‚

Cinque Terra (Five Lands) is a beautiful area in Italy. Five villages cling precariously to the sides of the dramatic, seaside cliffs. Each beautiful and unique in their own way, the one thing they have in common is that they are stunningly beautiful. If you get the chance to visit I highly recommend doing the hike between the five villages. It is fun, challenging and offers amazing views. I took SO many photos in the 3 days we spent in Cinque Terra, the light bouncing off the buildings and the water was beyond bliss. The small winding streets, amazing views & thunderous waves made it a place that I considered moving to. I started looking for little apartments that I could hole up in for several months. It’s the type of place that makes you feel creative and full of life and I definitely did not want to leave.

This photo is the tiny village of Manarola – which is practically perfect in every way.

It’s also my first attempt at HDR so I hope you like it!

That’s a beautiful HDR picture. I was in Florence 2 days in mid October. I had only so little time so I visited the Chanti Region then Cinque Terra. I’ll definitely make that my next place to see when I go back.

Were you able to see Manarola? It was part of Cinque Terra. I know what you mean, it seems even if you have months for Italy, it still wouldn’t be enough time. πŸ™‚ @sarah wu,

Going during the summer was a smart decision. I didn’t think ahead and almost died: http://rossroams.blogspot.com/2010/11/day-19-cinque-terre-and-pisa.html

Hi Ross, I was actually there in late september and the weather was perfect – not too hot, not too cold. I saw your post – you looked like you were freezing! @Ross Connard, H

Seems like the ideal place to be that not too many people know about. Love hiking. Will probably consider it for one of my next holidays. You’ve convinced me in a few words that’s worth seeing.

Thanks for stopping by. Yeah, Manarola is a wonderful spot for lounging and hiking, especially if you can go on the shoulder season (before or after summer). Here’s a story we did for the San Diego Uptown News: September on the Italian Riviera http://sduptownnews.com/?p=6247 about Manarola and Cinque Terre. @Regim Hotelier Bucuresti

Awesome pic. Kieu & I hiked Cinque Terre back in October of 2009. Weather was nice, although not warm enough to swim. We really wish we could’ve went rock jumping in Manarola. I have a few photos to share as well: http://gshot.smugmug.com/Europe/Cinque-Terre-October-2009. We plan on posting up more stories of Cinque Terre later this year. By the way, is it spelled Cinque Terre or Cinque Terra?

I don’t realise if that is a photo taken with an camera or is something like a painting. Anyway it look awesome.

One for the ‘must visit’ list πŸ™‚
