Paris Protests.

By Posted in - Big Trip & Europe & Featured Post & France & Paris & Photography Posts & Photos on October 27th, 2010

When we were in Paris a few weeks ago we walked right into a protest in the Bastille district of the city. It was the beginning of the Paris protests that were raging there last week.

It was a peaceful demonstration but the participants were really fired up and emotions were running high. We met and spoke with Dominique (the man pictured below with the cat) for a little while about what was going on. He said that the people of Paris are basically fed up with President Nicolas Sarkozy. France’s president has been caught using public money for his own personal use. We spoke for about 20 minutes about France, Paris, the U.S. and politics. It was a really interesting part of our stay in Paris and we never forgot Dominique or his furry friend.

He emailed me a few days ago and told me that the protests have escalated severely and were over taking the city. I decided now would be a good time to put up some pictures from the protest we saw in September. I hope that things get better in Paris and that the people get what they need. I have always been a big believer in Robin Hood and I can’t stand it when government officials rip off the public. I think it is disgusting and it makes me wonder how people like that can even sleep at night.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind covering some of the more recent protests as well. It’s always been my dream to be a war photographer and so a really active protest would be good practice! Although I really hope no one gets injured permanently. @Zablon Mukuba,
