Travel Photo Of The Week – Small Town America in Sandusky, Ohio

Sandusky is a small town city on the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio. It’s a cute little spot with just enough to keep you entertained for a couple days before you take a ferry over to the islands, which describe themselves as the “Midwest Key West” and it’s a pretty accurate description. The islands are party central with most people getting around via golf carts and drinking vividly colored shots. But little Sandusky has a cuteness factor of it’s own. It’s the kind of place where if you lived there, you’d probably walk down Main St. and know everyone by name. It’s also home to the Carousel Museum and has a really beautifully maintained green space in the center of town.

We were walking down the street when I spotted this little moment. From the red/white striped awning to the name of Acme Barber Shop and the guy getting his hair cut, it just screamed Americana so loudly and perfectly that I couldn’t resist snapping a photo.
