Sex on the beach CocktailSummer is one of the best times to visit Barcelona. From picnics in the Ciutadella Park to excursions on Tibidabo Mountain, there is plenty to do when the sun is shining in the Catalan capital. However, a visit to Barcelona during summertime would most definitely not be complete without relaxing with a cool cocktail and some traditional Spanish tapas at one of the many beach bars in Barcelona.

These summer hotspots range from the popular ‘chiringuito’ bars (more on these later) to some of the biggest clubs lining the shore. So, whether you wish to surround yourself with Barcelona’s beautiful people or just chill out with a ‘cerveza’ and watch the Mediterranean sunset, you’ll be sure to find a beach locale that’s right for you.

Here is a short guide to some of the best beach bars in Barcelona courtesy of our friends at ApartmentBarcelona.com.

1. El Xiringuito de Escribà

Chiringuitos are best described as open shacks built right on the sand, offering the perfect setting for unwinding during the day and partying at night. One of our top choices is El Xiringuito de Escribà, located on the Bogatell Beach, which offers delectable Mediterranean cuisine, as well as some of the best seafood dishes in the city. This top bar also serves some of the coolest cocktails on the beach, so be sure to head there for some pre-dinner drinks with the turquoise waves of the Med as your backdrop!

I had no idea Barcelona had so many beach bars! Makes sense, I guess. The icebar sounds quite spectacular, and not something I’d expect to find at all in Southern Europe!

I’ll be in Barcelona this July and I’m sure I’ll check out a few of these beach bars. I might leave the ice bar off my list however considering I’ll be escaping the southern hemisphere winter I’ll be wanting as much sun and warmth as I can get.
