A sunny beach day in Pacific Beach, California.

Standing on the snowy hill with a tube in hand, I cleared my mind of any creeping fears and hopped butt-first onto the small vinyl donut. With 15 years of snow tubing experience under my belt and no major accidents, I felt invisible as I approached the icy jump in the middle of the slope.  Like so many daredevils before me (Evil Kenevil, I’m looking at you) my fatal error came from my blinding confidence; the tube was too small and fast for me to pull off a landing. Seconds after hitting the snowy launch I was tossed from my toy store tube, flailing through the air until I landed hard on the flat bottom below, breaking my wrist and shattering any notion that I was invincible.

With so much going on before your trip—packing, scheduling, planning and dreaming—it’s easy to overlook the importance of travel insurance, when in reality it’s one of the most important financial investments you can make. With the affordability of coverage from reputable companies like Columbus Direct, there’s no reason not to get travel insurance for your next trip. Even if you are not an extreme adventure traveler, you may find yourself participating in some mellower adventure activities. Here are 10 reasons to get travel insurance for your next trip.

1. Surfing
2. Snorkeling
3. Bicycling
4. Snowboarding
5. Snow Skiing
6. Hiking
7. Jogging
8. Swimming
9. Tennis
10. Golf

In reality, I could’ve probably come up with 50 popular activities that people participate in on their vacation that would be covered under travel insurance. And of course it is also important to remember that coverage isn’t just limited medical accidents, it also can be used for trip and theft protection.
