Come Experience Fall in Breckenridge on Pin-Up Live! This Wednesday (9/30).

By Posted in - Pin Up Live & Pinterest & Social Media on September 29th, 2015 A mountain road in Breckenridge, Colorado, covered in fall foliage.

It is that time a year again–it’s leaf peeping season. With the unseasonably warm fall we’ve been having in Massachusetts (trust me, I’m not complaining), the leaves have been slower turn this year. But in Colorado, the colors of fall are on full display, and there is no better place to go leaf peeping than Breckenridge. Just 90 minutes west of Denver, Breckenridge’s higher elevation causes its leaves to change earlier than other places around the country. Not to mention, the historic town has a ton of fun stuff to do before, during, and after a leaf peeping session.

We’re excited to welcome the good folks of Breckenridge, Colorado to our Pin-Up Live! chat this week along with AFAR magazine.   The theme for this week’s Pin-Up Live! chat Falling for Breckenridge. We’ll be sharing tips, travel ideas, and heaps of gorgeous photos to help fuel your fall wanderlust. Plus, Breckenridge will be giving away a very cool prize pack of “Made in Breck” goodies.

So please join us and AFAR this Wednesday (9/30) at 7 p.m. (EST) on the Pin-Up Live! board to have a real time chat about about fall fun in Breckenridge. You can expect a lot of Pinspiration, tips, and stories being traded on Wednesday night, and we want to hear your stories too!

 Fun Facts About Breckenridge:

  • Breckenridge was originally founded by a small group of prospectors in 1859 after gold was discovered along the Blue River. The ensuing gold rush brought droves of settlers seeking their fortunes.
  • Breckenridge Oktoberfest is one of the largest in the Rocky Mountains, at least in terms of beer served. How much, you ask? Something around 8,000 gallons, which is enough to serve the entire Mile High Stadium at the next Bronco game.
  • Breckenridge was inadvertently left off a U.S. map in the mid-1800s and became known as “Colorado’s Kingdom” until the mistake was discovered nearly a half a century later. Today, the community embraces this unique aspect of its past with Kingdom Days — a celebration of Breck’s heritage.
  • Original ticket prices at Breckenridge were $4 for an adult and $2.50 for children.
  • In 1984, Breckenridge became first Colorado resort to allow snowboarding. The following year, it hosts the first snowboard World Cup and has hosted major winter events every year since.
  • The Imperial Express SuperChair, installed in 2005, is the highest resort high speed quad chairlift in North America. The chairlift rises from 11,901 feet to 12,840 feet above sea level, giving skiers and riders access to 400 acres of terrain above tree line.

Why Pinterest?

Ever since joining Pinterest in 2012, we’ve been hooked. And a lot of it has to do with the inspired ideas and photos we encounter on a daily basis. There’s a lot of incredible people on Pinterest, but no real good way to have a conversation–until now.

As avid travelers, we love sharing our travel tales and we believe the best tips and advice comes from your connections–family, friends and social networks. Pin-Up Live! brings the conversation to Pinterest, making it easy for people to connect and share stories, tips and beautiful images, while developing a comprehensive travel resource board that will continue to grow more robust as new topics are discussed.

Pin-Up Live! is the original real-time chat held on Pinterest and we plan to keep bringing you unique travel themes to stoke your inspiration and wanderlust, so please let us know if you have anything in mind you’d love to chat about. Remember, joining in the conversation is easy, just come to our Pin-Up Live! Board on Wednesday (9/30/15) at 7 p.m. (EST). And remember, if you’d like to be entered in this week’s drawing, all you have to do is comment on one of the pins during the chat.

We can’t wait to chat live with you this Wed!
