Sponsored Video: The London Story – London Underground.
In terms of touring London, my story isn’t too remarkable. I’ve only been to the city twice, but trust me you’ll want to read on because what I reveal at the end of this post may just blow your polka dot socks off.
Our first trip in London town lasted a whole 13 hours and consisted of a few pints and a few hours of sleep in a basement fire hazard that moonlighted as a hostel. By 5 a.m., we were on a fast train to Paris and wouldn’t return back for two years.
We found ourselves back in London for the World Travel Market last fall. Since our main focus was on the conference, we didn’t get to explore the city as much as we would have liked. But we made some great memories at conference parties and even had a chance to meet up with our good friend, Ben Rimmer of Tip Top Records, for a few drinks in his neighborhood. At this point we had known Ben for a few years after meeting randomly in a small eco-village deep in Baja, Mexico, during a whale watching trip. In the years after that chance meeting, we hung out with Ben in San Diego and Paris, but never on his home turf, so getting together with Ben was a real highlight for us.
In addition to our night out with Ben, we also got to connect with a lot of blogger friends, many whom we never met in person. By day WTM is one of the largest travel conferences in the world, and at night the city hums with dozens of industry parties, where partnerships and friendships our solidified over pints and flashy cocktails.
We may have not seen a lot of London on our two visits, but we did create some memories that will last a lifetime. And really, at the end of the day, isn’t that what traveling is all about anyways?
So, that’s my London story. Now, it’s your turn! Visit London wants to hear your story and has put together a contest that could get you a dream trip to London for two (airfare included). Pretty cool, right? Before you start penning your awesome tale though, check out the video below for some inspiration and then click on the “enter contest” button in the video.
