Secret Travel Missions, My WoCave & Skinny Cow.
I have some very exciting news!
Over the course of the summer I’ll be working on a project with Skinny Cow – yup, the same Skinny Cow that makes those yummy ice cream sandwiches. Seeing that I already have three packages of their new cookie dough ice cream bar in my freezer, I’m pretty sure this is going to be a fun and tasty project! Good thing I have Randy and my sisters to help me finish these off…
So what am I doing with Skinny Cow?
Well, it turns out that the folks over at Skinny Cow not only make some awesome ice cream treats, but they also want to encourage personal growth for women. So, they’ve created an initiative called WoCave (pronounced Wo-Cah-Vay). As part of this initiative, they’ve contacted me to complete three WoCave missions over the course of the summer!
What is WoCave?
WoCave is essentially the female version of the man cave. It’s a space where you can make the most of your “me” time – a platform where you feel empowered to express your truest feelings in a positive way. Basically a place where you can just be you. I know that typically a man cave is an actual room and if you have space, WoCave could be a physical room as well. But if you’re like me and short on real estate, then WoCave could simply be certain touches in your life that remind you to take time to be yourself and, most importantly, appreciate yourself and your thoughts. Whether you are fabulous or flawed, WoCave is simply a way to celebrate your authentic self.
Also as a part of the summer program they have also started the Traveling WoCave Truck Tour. Through research it was discovered that more women spend their lunch break eating at their desk. I totally believe this because I hardly ever took a lunch at the last office job I had years ago. So if you’re an office dweller keep your eyes open for the Traveling WoCave Truck! The truck is traveling from the east to the west coast over the course of the summer and is a place to get out for lunch, relax and hang out. Of course there will be plenty of frosty, free treats given away at the truck too!
What are my missions?
Over the summer I’ll be embarking on a new mission every month and posting my experience on Beers & Beans. The catch is that I will only know what the missions are via a special shipment from Skinny Cow that arrives each month. I love being involved in something with a bit of mystery!
My first box arrived a day before we left for the Maldives, and I’ve finally had the chance to really check it out and discover the mission. First off, the box was loaded with goodies! It included a scratch map to show where I’ve traveled, fun luggage tags, a huge travel tote from Vera Bradley, an inspirational photo board with images of the Seven Wonders of the World, a Handmade Glamping book (DIY book for creating super cute camping accessories), a $100 visa gift card and if that wasn’t enough I also got a brand new Canon camera for recording the mission! Yah!
My first mission is to:
“Plan a one-night staycation and visit a highly popular, local, tourist spot you’ve never experienced before that reflects my most authentic self.”
Hmmmm…..Being in Southeastern MA right now that means my options are Cape Cod, Boston, Plymouth or Providence and I’ve decided to visit the Cape!
Honestly I can’t wait – I spent my summers going there with my family when I was a kid and I haven’t been back to play tourist there is YEARS. So I’m excited to head down there this week and have fun! I have a few things planned – mini golfing, a picnic on the beach, wine tasting at the Cape Cod Winery or Brewery and, hopefully, a trip to the National Seashore for some fun in the sun!
It’s going to be a great time and honestly I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else because of my connection to the Cape. I’ve always loved it, and I definitely feel like myself when I am there. I’ve also never had a Staycation before and it will be really nice to take a full day off and do some fun things. If I had to pick a popular tourist destination that reflects who I am–the Cape would definitely be it. It’s a place that brings me inner peace and makes me happy. Technically speaking, I’ve never been to the Cape Cod Winery or Brewery before and I can’t even remember the last time I went to the National Seashore, so it will be like going to a new place after all!
I also rarely “treat” myself to days off when we are at home, so I’m not going to lie, it is going to be nice to have a day off exploring the Cape.
So stay tuned within the next couple of weeks because I’ll be posting social media updates when I head off on my mission and soon I’ll be posting photos and stories from my Staycation. And as soon as I get the next mystery mission box I’ll update you all what I am planning to do next.
In the meantime I’d love to know what you would do with a one night Staycation of your own! Is there a new place nearby you’d love to check out or a place that you’ve always felt very at home in?
If so, please tell me about it in the comments. We always chat with our readers about places we’d all love to visit but we rarely get to hear about the destinations that are close to your hearts and I’d love to hear your stories!
In the meantime, I’m about to raid my freezer for a Cookie Dough Ice Cream bar…

That’s a really cool concept. What a way to connect with a brand. Being from Miami I would have to say I would plan a staycation on South Beach. It’s so touristy I hardly ever go anymore, but it would be fun to spend a day on the beach, visit a spa, and then spend a night in a hotel on Ocean Drive and party ’til the sun comes up!

We’re staycation-ing for the next couple of weeks and doing some things we never get a chance to do. Home is Pordenone in Northern Italy and we’d love to check out Lago Santa Croce nearby where you can take windsurfing lessons!

What a wonderful idea. It will definitely keep you moving this summer. If I did a staycation in Seattle, I would do an aerospace tour. I still have yet to view all the air museums and Boeing facilities!

Guys, I am so in love with your little pup! You know, I took a photograph of my Vera Bradley bag with little Erika in it? I should put it up as a post! You have inspired me. I just did mission 1 and cannot wait to follow you on your adventures.
