I don’t know how it happened–maybe it was all the People’s Court I used to watch with my grandparents–but somewhere along the way I picked up an affinity for reality TV. I’ll never forget when Puck stuck in his grubby fingers in Pedro’s peanut butter on the Real World 3 or my marathon sessions watching Blind Date.
Because we no longer have cable, my reality TV show consumption has plummeted. In all reality (no pun intended), it’s probably for the best. For a while there, I was getting really wrapped up in Bravo shows, so it’s nice to have a break from my friends on the Millionaire Matchmaker and Million Dollar Listing. With that said, I still sneak the occasional reality TV clip that I find on Yahoo. Though, to this day, I still miss the quirkiness of Blind Date, which is why I enjoyed this new dating game style show from Air New Zealand called Blind Gate.
In the clip below, Host Claudia Winkleman gives a sneak preview of Blind Gate, which is the UK’s first airport dating show. This episode was filmed live at London’s Heathrow airport on Valentine’s Day and then the couples were flown out to Los Angeles for a fun and romantic getaway. Actually, I think one of the main reasons that the preview grabbed my attention, besides it resemblance to Blind Date, is that it was filmed in LA. Right now, maybe more than any other time in my life, I’m really missing Southern California, so it’s a real treat for me to see some of my favorite LA spots. What’s even cooler is that you can win your own LA long weekend from Air New Zealand simply by clicking the banner on top of the video.
