Sponsored Video: Jump Into Northern Ireland In 2012.

Be warned: for the next several day there we will be a huge run on green food dye in the United States. It happens every year around this time as the build up to St. Patrick’s Day grows until it finally explodes on March 17  into a seemingly uncontrollably mass of green–clothing, cupcakes, beer and, now, even Heinz Ketchup.

But imagine if everyone saved there money, passing on over-priced green American beer, expensive new green outfits or high bar tabs, and used their savings to travel to Northern Ireland instead. How amazing would that be?

Don’t get me wrong, I like St. Patrick’s Day, and I especially like Guinness and Jameson, but I would rather celebrate the day by visiting the place responsible for the day, plus, in my opinion, Guinness just tastes better in Ireland.

The closest I’ve come to Northern Ireland is a Dublin airport lounge during a 5 a.m. layover last autumn, when the only thing we had time for was a pint and a catnap before flying out.

For years, Northern Ireland has been at the top of my list of places to visit. And this stylish video by Tourism Ireland only reaffirms my longing to visit Belfast and the rest of Northern Ireland. In 30 seconds, this clip captures the beauty and excitement of the region, can you imagine having a long weekend here?

So join me this St. Patrick’s Day by saying no to green beer and ketchup, and yes to visiting Ireland.
