Out of all the countries I visited in South America, few left as distinct of an impression upon me as Argentina. It’s one of the most diverse countries I’ve ever visited in terms of landscape, culture and people. From the bustling hub of Buenos Aires to the frontier parts of Norte Argentino I was able to experience a lot, but was left feeling like I had just barely scratched the surface. Some of the true highlights were the markets in Buenos Aires, football matches and rugged landscapes found near the Bolivian border. The following is a photo essay capturing some of the distinct faces I encountered along the way:
A performance artist strutting his stuff at the Sunday market – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A man making his way down the street before sundown – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Lovers sharing a romantic moments at a quiet park – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Cute but somewhat shy children – Norte Argentino.
Face painting prior to the Argentina versus Mexico match – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A street performer requesting money for his efforts – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A lady sitting down and enjoying a cup of Mate tea – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A Charlie Chaplin impersonator – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A boy enjoying a coke during the football match – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A man cooking up a local style barbecue on the streets – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A man selling delicious churros and donuts to delight of a large crowd – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A passionate fan living and dying with every intense moment of the game – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A lady getting ready for a street performance – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A man dressed in drag whispering something – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A somewhat eccentric man covered from head to toe national gear along with a decorated bike and bird in a cage – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A man and woman performing tango for an enthusiastic crowd – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A man stops walking the dogs to enjoy a smoke – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A cute boy cheering on the national squad – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A lady enthusiastically making handicrafts – Norte Argentino.
Boys playing traditional Andean music – Norte Argentino.
A distinct looking lady selling trinkets – Norte Argentino.
A cute girl who approached me for a photo – Norte Argentino.
A girl joining her family to cheer on the national team – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
An animated performer busking on the street – Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A man selling trinkets on tourists – Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Between you and Beers and Beans I am very inspired and am motivated to improve my own photography.
Just a wonderful set of photos. I was in Argentina last January and some bring back memories – especially the girl drinking mate.

Thanks Leigh 🙂 I agree with you about Beers & Beans but I still feel I have a lot of things to work on in order to advance my photography. Mate in Argentina is certainly one of my most vivid memories and something I truly miss drinking even though I’m consuming plenty of green tea now in the far east.

Thank you! I find people express their emotions far more freely in Latin America than in many other cultures.

This is a really good site about photography and taking pictures. I think you site is something that both new and seasoned photographers can look at and finally realize they are not the center of the universe. Really good job I will be passing this along to my students in my digital photography class for the next few months.

I like the photos, my question is this. Do you use digital camera or the standard camera? I have 1982 Nikon model and the quality is superb.. Thanks for posting them…
