We had a lot of picnics in Paris. The entire city was full of ideal picnic spots and with the bread, cheese & wine being so tasty and inexpensive we just couldn’t help ourselves. It was such a great way to eat lunch on the cheap and take in the scenes of Paris.
One day we found the perfect spot! A little canal full of live aboard boats, plenty of people relaxing on the grass like us and beautiful scenery. During lunch we discovered that Randy really needed a haircut. We had a small pair of scissors on ourΒ Swiss Army knife and had downed just enough wine to make it seem like a logical haircut.
Even though you wouldn’t know it Randy is kind of picky about his hair and has never let me cut it. I was pretty excited that I was getting the chance to finally trim it! Also, I should note that I am not a hairdresser by any stretch of the imagination. But I took the tiny scissors and gave Randy the best little Frenchman haircut I could muster. What do you think?

Great shots of your other half!
haha – thanks Kelsey! @Kelsey,
This is super cute! I love this post! I’m going to be in Paris in 2 months, yippee! I can’t wait!
I’m glda you like it π Have fun in Paris! @Allison,
Seriously, how much hair has been cut? Nice hang out in the park π
It may not look like a lot – I was nervous to go short but trust me it was. His hair was very straggly – I trimmed it up π @Jilianne @ Cotswolds Cottages,
A picnic in Paris sounds amazing right about now… as it’s cold and rainy where I am.
Where are you at Scott? @Scott – Quirky Travel Guy,
Aww how sweet. Nothing like some cheese and wine. The pictures are so soft, almost feathery. I love them.
Bread, cheese & wine in Paris – I could not get enough! Glad you like the photos π @Mica,
I only let Kirsty near my hair with hair dressing scissors, pen knife – no chance!
haha… Well at least you let her cut your hair! This moment was 5+ years in the making. π @Poi,
This is hilarious, a haircut with a swiss army knife while picnicking in France. I love it! So care free!
Thanks Erin π@Erin,
Very nice pictures! Randy doesn’t look so excited about the haircut though π Next time you are in Paris, let us know and we’ll show you some other great spots for picnics (and possibly a hairdresser address if you want π

He said he liked it! Maybe he didn’t really though. hahaha… Yes, next time we are in Paris we would love to have a picnic with you and perhaps get randy a pro haircut!@Alex,
awesome job! and what was i thinking going to a hair stylist to donate my hair? wine + park + swiss army knife = magic! these photos are amazing. i love looking up your noses- adorable! π
haha…. I don’t know if randy had quite enough to donate but it’s awesome that you did that. Your beautiful hair will make someone really happy! @Lorna – the roamantics,
Love the pics of Randy – he has such a great face! Makes me want to find a spot for a picnic!
He’s a cutie. And damn I got lucky, he photographs so well! @Erica,
Picnics in Paris sound so idyllic! Ive never been to Paris but it looks like a picnic is essential there. I love that you’re using a Swiss Army Knife to cut his hair as well π
When you go, you’ll have to picnic. We did it all the time because the bread & cheese & wine is so good, yet so budget! @Laura,
There are winos with knives in a park near my house too, but they are not nearly as fun or interesting as you guys… π
haha… I think they are probably a lot more interesting than us. I think I should consult you before naming any more posts. Wino’s with knives would’ve gotten a lot of hits!! hahaa@Raymond,
My rates are reasonable, and test screenings are through the roof. π @Bethany,
Haha – wonderful! Glad to know I’m not the only one cutting my own hair (and sometimes John’s) on the road =)
I try to cut my own too but sometimes i do a bad job… π @Andrea,
Job well done! π hahaha
Thanks Cailin π @Cailin,
Nice job! I must say that Randy looks a bit French with that hair of his π
Thanks Brooke! I felt i did a good job channeling the french spirit. π @Brooke vs. the World,
I really like the b&w photo of the two faces. Good hair dresser skills as well π
Thanks Sophie. I like that photo too π @Sophie,
I think the “after” shot looks quite nice!
What a great spot for a picnic. Looks like you two were having a lot of fun.
Cute! Love that look in the last shot of Randy that you took of his haircut. So great that you were innovative with the Swiss Army Knife!
The haircut looked great for a couple weeks but it grew out terrible. At one point I mistook him for a woman in her 40’s from the back. I guess my cutting skills were short lived. π @Natalie T.,
