Although I’d like to consider myself a bit more of an adventurous traveler, there is something to be said about hanging out seaside and soaking up the rays on a beautiful beach. If you work 9 – 5 and only get 1 – 2 weeks off a year for a vacation, then a beach vacation can be a perfect fit–fun yet relaxing and probably the best way to rid yourself of office stress. I can testify to the fact that even if you are a full time traveler you still need beach holidays every now and then.
My work brings me around the world and I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but I still have looming deadlines, conference calls and the constant daily influx of email–on top of endless hours of photo editing, blogging, pitching & research. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my work, and I’m certainly not complaining but on occasion dealing with all of that while in a foreign location can wipe you out. Sometimes before I can even think of catching up on work I have to learn basic phrases that I normally take for granted such as, “Where is the bathroom?” I rarely have bad days on the road but missed connections, illness, continual language confusions & scams can add up and cause some serious frustration. So whether you are traveling with a 1 week time frame or traveling for months on end–you still need a relaxing beach holiday from time to time.
We only had the chance to hit up a couple beaches in Italy but they were really relaxing. I have always dreamed of the beaches in Greece and secretly I wanted to add it into the end of the European leg but there just wasn’t time. There is something about Greece – the white walled buildings, the cerulean blue waters, the dark tanned Greek God bodies, the luscious & tempting Mediterranean diet, the iconic fables & ruins. Just one of those things alone lures thousands on Greece holidays every year and one day (hopefully soon) I am going to be one of them.
Every time I see a photo of Greece I fall in love all over again with the idea of visiting. It seems that as a photographer, I must visit Greece because not only is it beyond beautiful but the way the light bounces off the walls and the sparkling sea–well, it always looks just right.

Well ok, on one hand I want to say “I wish!” and on the other hand i’m thinking “Thank god Randy doesn’t wear white bikinis!”
haha… so no, it’s not him but I couldn’t help myself. I mean this guy was too perfect. I o have a funny photo though of randy standing to the right getting ready to jump off into the ocean in his big baggy American board shorts while this guys bathes almost nude in the glory of the sun and most likely also of his own ego. 🙂 @ayngelina,
Agree with you. There’s something about just chillaxing on the beaches and let all the worries go! Greece beaches are definitely worth exploring—azure-meets-turquoise ocean, white-washed houses, blue-domed churches. I haven’t been to any in Italy though. Cinque Terre looks positively amazing, hope one day I get to visit it.
