In July, Beers and Beans caught up with Bam Margera and Johnny Knoxville in Los Angeles following an ESPN press conference Knoxville was part of for Mat Hoffman’s “The Birth of Big Air,” which he co-produced. As Margera, his wife, Missy, and Knoxville hung out at a back booth, we spoke briefly to the Jackass stars about their favorite places to travel in the world.

Citing a thriving music scene, including the band HIM, as well as some fantastic skate spots, Margera said his favorite place to visit is Helsinki, Finland.

Additionally, the pro skateboarder said he also enjoys traveling around Iceland and through its capital city, Reykjavik. “Iceland is awesome! It feels like you’re on the moon,” said Margera, adding that the country’s varied terrain, including its waterfalls and empty stretches of black volcanic rocks, makes the island a great place to visit.

Knoxville’s choices on the other hand were a little closer to home. In fact, one of his favorite destinations–Austin, Texas– is about 1,200 miles from his home in Los Angeles. Having already downed several pints before we spoke to him, Knoxville confidently declared, “My third favorite place is Knob Lick, Kentucky.” As for Knoxville’s first, well I didn’t catch that one, but the next time you see him feel free to ask him yourself.

It always amazes me how few celebrities leave the United States. they have all the money in the world and never go anywhere. It is a shame. At least the skateboarder has seen some of the world. That is a beautiful photo of the waterfall in Iceland by the way. Looks like you had a fun time with these guys. I haven’t seen the Jackass movies, but by the photos, they look like fun guys.

Nice interview score, to bad you didn’t get involved in some of their hijinks, or did you? That would make a bad ass post “being a jackass, the inside story”

Yeah we covered the press conference and we were standing around when Randy spotted them sitting down. There was hardly anyone there. We didn’t want to intrude so we left and then Randy was like “F’ It, i’m going back in” And he did and ended up chatting with them. They were pretty nice guys.

I’m a big Bam fan, so you just made my day with this interview. I know Iceland featured heavily into one of his CKY videos — CKY 3 I think. That’s the first time I really saw the other wordly landscapes (I watched the video a zillion times).

I like Bam too! I always had a little crush on him which strangely dissipated after I met him..not sure why! Anyway, Randy wants to tell you that CKY is releasing Bsides and rarities, a new video to check out. 🙂 @Dave,

I have to say I’m equally drawn to and repulsed by Johnny Knoxville, but I think that’s how he prefers it 😉

hahah… i think you’re right! My sister Kate told me if I saw him I should just kick him on the balls as an introduction. Didn’t do that but still can’t tell if it would’ve made me awesome or just plain crazy. @ayngelina,

Nice work on the interview!! We will be attending a music festival in a couple of weeks and interviewing some of our fave and very popular musos. Would love any advice from you guys as I am super nervous and have no idea what to ask. Want to make it travel focused and talk about their inspirations for music etc.
    Great job!

@Caz Makepeace, Thanks Caz! Trust me, you have nothing to worry about. I’ll put together some tips that I use for interviews and get them over to you by Friday. -Randy

Yeah, we were both a little nervous too. First, we took the picture and then left. But Randy said he couldn’t pass up this chance, so he went back and just went for it.
