Travel Photo Of The Week – Panajachel Village on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

photo of the week 3

Image: Panajachel Village on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala   This photo was taken as we were leaving Panajachel on route to Santiago via a ferry over Lake Atitlan. I’ll have to post some photos of the lake because it is seriously stunning – one of the most beautiful I have seen. Little villages dot the circumference of the lake and it’s flanked in the back by a volcano. Travel eye candy and also extremely serene and peaceful. We…

Travel Photo Of The Week – Window Box in Durnstein, Austria

photo of the week 5

Image: Picture Perfect Window in Durnstein, Austria Walking around Durnstein I spotted this picture perfect window and just had to take a photo of it. The flowers really popped against the dark shutters and the wine bottles and paraphernalia in the window provided just a glimpse of the owner’s life – whoever it is, they like to garden and drink. It was also late November and I was really impressed that this plant was not only still…

Travel Photo Of The Week – Small Town America in Sandusky, Ohio

photo of the week 4

Image: Acme Barber Shop in Sandusky, Ohio USA  Sandusky is a small town city on the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio. It’s a cute little spot with just enough to keep you entertained for a couple days before you take a ferry over to the islands, which describe themselves as the “Midwest Key West” and it’s a pretty accurate description. The islands are party central with most people getting around via golf carts and…

9 Reasons Why You Should Enter To Win A Free Cruise For Every Year of Your Life

We’re having quite a week here in New England! A massive storm graced us with more than two feet of snow; the Patriots are in the Super Bowl; and Beth and I are in Provincetown for a couple of days in a self imposed writers retreat. With so much going on this week, we wanted to make sure to remind you guys about the incredible contests Carnival is currently running, because the prizes are terrific…

What 7 Days On A Caribbean Cruise Looks Like

"Processed with VSCOcam with e7 preset"

My first time on a cruise ship was about five years ago. We were living in San Diego and my mom booked a short one down to Ensenada, Mexico, for my grandparents, and Beth and I decided to join them. It was a fun experience and a good introduction to cruising, but, it really was just an introduction. So when we stepped onto the Carnival Dream last month, I was really excited and couldn’t wait to…

Black and White Vienna

Vienna wine tavern in Nussdorf.

We set off  along the Danube in search of a wine tavern. I’d heard there were a few in Nussdorf–the town just south of the river docks that was quite now that autumn had set into Vienna. Cold grey skies followed us into town. Nussdorf sits at the end of a main tram line like the dot in the letter “i” a place. Beth and I had passed through town just 24 hours earlier as…

Wine Makes Me A Better Photographer

Man walking near a wine bar in Vienna.

It was mid-November and really cold outside. The kind of cold where even if you are traveling to a new area you want to just stay inside. And that’s exactly what I wanted to do. We had just settled into our cozy Sound Of Music room and I was ready to throw on my pj’s and watch a movie. Then somehow Randy found out about a random wine bar ‘somewhere’ in walking distance. Randy+Wine+Adventure =…
