Travel Photo Of The Week – Panajachel Village on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

photo of the week 3

Image: Panajachel Village on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala   This photo was taken as we were leaving Panajachel on route to Santiago via a ferry over Lake Atitlan. I’ll have to post some photos of the lake because it is seriously stunning – one of the most beautiful I have seen. Little villages dot the circumference of the lake and it’s flanked in the back by a volcano. Travel eye candy and also extremely serene and peaceful. We…

5 Days of Giveaways: Day 3 – Guatemala Prize Pack

Guatemala Prize Pack from Cooperative for Education.

Ever since Beth booked a pair of $8 tickets (Ah! Spirit Airlines) to Guatemala, we’ve been in love with the country and its people. Technology and the Children of Guatemala

A Guatemalan elementary school reading classroom.

[google1][pinit count=”vertical” url=”http://www.beersandbeans.com” float=”right”] *This short story originally appeared on the Unruly Media Blog in December 2012. I always really liked it and wanted to share it with you guys, because I think a lot of people who grew up in the 80s and 90s can probably relate to what I’m talking about.  Looking back on my school days, the memories that come back to me time and time again revolve around computers. Oh, how…

beersandbeans_guatemala_children

[google1][pinit count=”vertical” url=”http://www.beersandbeans.com” float=”right”] We’ve had a tremendous couple of weeks getting the word out about the incredible work Cooperative Education is doing for Guatemalan school children, while showcasing a lot of smiling faces that could warm even the Grinch’s cold, small heart. Beth and I had planned to end our fundraising effort at 11:59 p.m. Dec. 31, 2012 but just like traveling things don’t always go as planned AND sometimes that’s not a bad…
